My friend!
What a delight to meet you.
I’m Ji Yeon, a working professional based in New York City holding a B.A. from Columbia University in Statistics and Information Science with a focus on Human-Centered Design—an interdisciplinary program I designed incorporating Data Science, Industrial Engineering, Sociology, Design, and Psychology. Since graduating in 2022, I have been working in the New York Strategy team at DoorDash and spending the rest of my time doing data privacy and advocacy work with Youth For Privacy.
To give you a glimpse of who I am: I observe, I listen, I study, I design, I devise, I analyze, I advise, I innovate, and I inspire.
In short, I’m a philosophical entrepreneur. Perhaps an entrepreneurial philosopher.
My greatest love and ardor lie in building meaningful connections within humans—whether that be between humans, or with oneself. I am on a lifetime’s mission to elevate humanity’s baseline self-awareness, self-love, self-assuredness, and self-respect through an innovative solution that can fundamentally change one’s relationship with oneself. Ultimately, I am here to help humans live an adventurous life that is true to themselves.
While I was interviewing 150 members of youth in this generation, I felt at home wherever in the world I was. One of the core values I’ve kept dear to my heart ever since is global citizenship: having a sense of belonging wherever you are in the context of this world through deep, cross-cultural connections.
In my spare time, I take acting classes at The Barrow Group (famously known as Anne Hathaway’s acting school). I love traveling solo while keeping record of the portrait of the skies I encounter in each corner of the world. I am also a firm believer in the power of journaling and meditation, and I encourage those around me to find plain moments of mindfulness in their day to day. A tip of the iceberg, but I sometimes record my thoughts publicly. I am also a passionate public speaker. I’ve been in a long-term trusted partnership with the United Nations Department of Public Information and the International Congress of Dento-Maxillo-Facial Radiology as a mentor and presenter. I’ve also had ventured out into the entertainment, beauty, and fashion industry. I’ve competed as a beauty pageant in Miss Korea 2021 and Miss Intercontinental Korea 2021 with the mission to challenge ableism and lookism deeply baked into our society by confronting the very industry that propagates such ideals. I’ve partnered with multiple fashion and beauty brands & magazines to better understand the modern-day Gen-Z psyche in the mobile and social media landscape. I’ve also walked as a runway model at New York Fashion Week F/W 2021.
In my past life, I was a published scientific researcher and had been selected as the Korean representative with the Korea Forest Service to travel to Moscow where I presented my research findings (first article under the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe website’s Events section). There, I met peers who have become long-distance friends for a lifetime. I was featured on the national news to be the first Korean to win an award at the international competition!
All of this is to say — I’m one with range.
Now, who are you? Everyone has a place to be themselves in my world. Only truths.
If you feel compelled, I’m just around the corner.
